tiny laptops?? anyone have one or used one?
The tiny laptops.... usually around 10", I see Sony has an 8" even.
anyone used one? like, dislike? advantage other than portable? I see Verizon has one now for $199, I hear they will soon be $99.
I can't imagine getting much smaller than 14" screen, I would need new glasses.

My daughter got a 10" IBM Lenovo Ideapad for graduation. It's light, quick, powerful, and was less that $350. Win XP was a plus, which really surprised me.

I have noticed that they all are XP or Linux systems on them, No Vista on any of them.

That alone makes them more attractive, for me, Doreen.
That, and the prices, of course.

I agree, but the only thing w/these mini's is they don't have a cd/dvd drive, at least the ones I've looked at haven't had one, you needed to attach w/usb to get info off/burned. But for notes & email & internet they would be great.

True! The Lesovo has none either. I have an external plug n play CD that I haven't tried on her Lesovo yet, so I don't know if it'll read it or not. I had a hell of a time getting my old IBM thinkpad to read it, and it was Win98. This CD ROM drive is about ten years old or more, so it may not work for her. We've got a whole bunch of USB thumbdrives, though, and if she ever has to load a large program, I'll just network her to my laptop via our wireless.
Hers is small and light, and the battery seems to last forever. It should be great for school (if she doesn't wear it out surfing, first!)

I would to like to try one with the Linux system just to be able to compare it to Windows.
I've tried a Mac and didn't care for it.

My first computer was a Mac, 7" screen, BW. I think it had a 700MB Hd.. woo hoo!
Hey it still works.
That was attractive that they have xp, but I think I would go with IGF, and try a Linux. might be fun!

little laptops good one, for $200 today
through american express wish list.
ASUS Eee PC 1005HA 10.1" Netbook

you do have to charge it to amex card, but can't beat the price. My neighbour has the same one and it is nice.
I doubt if they get much cheaper even on black friday

I just tried a 10" model with Linux as an os.
It belongs to a friend. I didn't care for it and told him to send it back.

No it wasn't as I was always up close to it.
The Linux OS sucks compared to windows.
