Ip Addresses

Ok all you computer experts. As for Ip addies. I have a tracker that tells me how many visits we have to a site & the ip it comes from. It gives me the area & host I believe ,

ie:

98.145.8.114
Location Yuma, Arizona United States
Total Hits 1
Hits this month 1
First Visit Jun 23, 09 04:19 AM
Last Visit 8 hours 22 minutes

How can I get down to the nitty gritty on this ip & let me know "who" this belongs to? I'm sure there's a way to get more info, how would I go about getting it?

Yeah Sharon. I've been watching WHO is hitting my myspace. I have a couple I'm watching. 1 is this one & it shows it's from here in Yuma. JC, I would think there is a way out here in this wide world of tech that someone has got a backdoor figured out & can locate "WHO" the ip belongs to and not just the service provider. Know any forums that I could hit up that might be able to head me in the right direction. Kinda like a REALLY GOOD tech err, uh, hacker

It's a multi-step process, Kris, and it's not 100% accurate. I like DomainTools. But the one I use most is QuirkSearch, which is a FireFox add-on. Either way, run their WHOIS, and get the information you can find there. Usually, there will be a contact name and number, and sometimes an e-mail, and you can then run them through www.pipl.com. Both the name, and the phone number will give you some more information. PIPL will give you a lot of hits, and profile pics for blogs and social sites, if the subject has one posted. But most will be the wrong person. (For my name, for instance, there's probably 6 or 7 different people besides me.) This is where checking the name against email address, area, phone number, etc., will help you narrow it down to the right individual. You can do the same thing at www.zabasearch.com, and compare those notes against what you already found. By the time you get that done, you'll usually have figured out who is pinging you.
I forgot to mention, if your program is giving you a location of origin that is fairly specific, you can run a map check on zip codes, and see what neighborhood they're in, as well.

OK Doc. U seem to know what's what. If I pm u my profile snitch for myspace that I have to get you in so u can have a looksie as to what's they're giving me. can u do, or should I say do u have time on ur hands to play super snoop for me, & when u get it figured out, do me a step by step so that this idiot here can understand & learn how to do this. I click on these places & get info but have NO IDEA as to what I'm looking at on the results page. Kinda take me by the hand as it were after u get what I have available down to a science? Who know's you may even have an easier way than what I'm looking at now.

I'm watching my myspace hits as noted before, it's prob spammers or something but would just like to know how to do this, it looks like it could be kinda cool to keep up with who's following ya. hahaha. I'm just a nosie body & wanna know WHO's ck'n me out heehee. & if I get it down to a science I could use it to kinda keep an eye on manda's as well.
